Prayer Meeting

This summer Josh has had the opportunity to get to know my home church that I have had the privilege of growing up in all of my life. This past Wednesday Josh was able to speak at Prayer Meeting, speaking on the Biblical way to view trails. It has been such a pleasure being his wife this far in ministry, I'm excited to see more opportunities for us.

June Update

It’s been a crazy past couple months as most of you know I got married to my beautiful wife Felicia just one month ago!  That came one week after I graduated from New Tribes Bible Institute, bringing my time of two years in Bible classes to an end.  This is now the blog for the Sheridan’s and you can follow along and pray for us as we walk with God and continue on our journey to serve Him here in the U.S. and Lord willing overseas.
To bring you up to speed, we are now living a cottage that Felicia’s parents have in northeastern Pennsylvania for the summer.  I am working full-time with my father-in-law for a company called Stoney Mountain for a 4 person crew that does pipe fitting and pipe work on the many natural gas pads here in the area.  Felicia is working part-time as a cleaning lady at a stone quarry up the street where her mom works.  We’re getting involved at her home church, South New Milford Baptist Church, re-establishing relationships and helping out in any way we can.  For me this is a new church with new people so I’m also playing softball for the church on Thursday nights as a way to get to know more people.  We’re going to be helping out in junior church the next couple weeks as well as meeting with the missions committee next month before we head back to New Tribes, more on that later.  There’s a lot going on this summer, work, married life, church life, but we are loving it and are excited for our remaining time here in PA.
Now for what our plans are ahead, we’re heading back to New Tribes to be interns at the school for a year.  This will involve us serving in a department at school in return for room and board.  Felicia will be working in the front office and I will be working in the maintenance department, places where we both learn necessary skills but also what the Christian Life looks like in practical experience.  During this time we will be looking for discipleship opportunities while also being mentored by a staff member at school.  Following this year we are looking at taking a year off to remain in Pennsylvania and visit Arizona, while working and saving money to go to the Missionary Training Center in Missouri.  This is the next step of training for us, a 2 year training program to train us for overseas missions.  After this time there is a period of raising support and then we will move into whatever role the Lord has for us.  We are trusting the Lord because we know that our plans may not always work out, but this is what our desire is for our future.  This is our blog that you can follow to see what the Lord is doing, where we are headed and how you can pray for us.
It’s Felicia writing now. J I’m going to just take a few moments and tell you all what one thing we have been learning together since being married. That is recognizing the beginning of loving the other person, is by seeing the love that God has for us. Since we have only been married for one month, we are still in the “ooey gooey” stage where everything is so great and perfect. But, we have also realized that even though we may feel that way or even though we want to tell each other all of the time how much we love each other; that we have nothing but what God has given us. We cannot love the other without God’s love to us, and we cannot depend on the other person for happiness. It is not Josh’s job to make me happy, he may make me happy, but it is not his job. It has been such a growing experience for us both because we are newly married and want to accommodate each other as best as possible, making our spouse feel comfortable and loved. So we live knowing God’s love is the root of our love, we are nothing without it, and sharing that with each other and growing in our understanding of God’s love is how we begin to see what it is to love one another.

Prayer Requests:
1. It's our last month here in PA, that we would use it wisely, building relationships, enjoying relationships.

2. Josh is speaking at prayer meeting on July 16th so pray that would go well and the church would be encouraged.

3. For our internship and next year at NTBI, that God would be preparing hearts, opening doors for us to be discipled and disciplers and opportunities, good and bad, for us to grow.

4. Felicia's brother and sister-in-law leave for Paraguay on July 9th so keep them and their two young kids in prayer and their missionary endeavors.  That a harvest would be reaped, but also as importantly, that they would grow as a result of God's work.

5. Pray for the unreached of the world, that their hearts would be opened and also for laborers to go where no one wants to.
